Footrace champions run in Porto Viro
Over 200 runners gathered on Sunday, May 5 in the Pinewood of Fornaci (Porto Viro) for a double sports event: the “Correre in Pineta”, the second stage of Adriatic LNG Circuit, and the “Memorial Paolo Fantinato”, an invitation-only competition created in tribute to the important sportsman from Rovigo.
Now on its 4th edition, the first-ever taking place in Porto Viro, the Memorial has welcomed national and international champions this year too. Among them, Italian U-23 10,000 meters champion Rebecca Lonedo, the four-time winner of the Adriatic LNG Circuit Nadya Chubak, Kenyan runner Kimosop Kiprono and Ethiopian athlete Addisalem Tegegn, winners of male and female categories, respectively.
The pinewood of Fornaci is one of the most evocative places of the Regional Park of Po Delta and it has hosted the “Correre in Pineta” race for 23 years. Since 2009 the competition is part of the Circuit sponsored by Adriatic LNG, created in order to combine the positive values of sport with the promotion of local natural heritage.
The Circuit confirms itself as an unmissable event for amateur and professional athletes, whose participation constantly increase year-by-year, recognizing the value of this original project realized in synergy with the territory.
