• The first feasibility study of building an offshore regasification terminal in the North Adriatic Sea is presented by Edison, followed by the first Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) in 1999.

• On November 20, 2003 ExxonMobil, Qatar Petroleum and Edison sign an agreement regarding the construction and management of the offshore terminal. The agreement provides for the transfer of the control of the project company Edison LNG Spa from Edison to ExxonMobil and Qatar Petroleum. On March 25, 2004 the Italian Competition Authority authorizes the procedure.
