Adriatic LNG has successfully completed the peak shaving service procedure
70,000 cubic meters of LNG available to Snam Rete Gas for the winter of thermal year 2016/17
Milan, November 14, 2016 - The tender procedure to all operators in the LNG market for the peak shaving service, organized by Adriatic LNG for the Ministry of Economic Development, has been completed.
The peak shaving is one of the measures of the "Emergency Plan" set by the Ministry of Economic Development decree to ensure security of supply to the national gas system during the winter 2016/2017.
The LNG market operator who won the service will provide to Snam Rete Gas a quantity of 70,000 cubic meters of LNG, whose discharge in the Adriatic LNG Terminal’s tanks will take place in the second half of December 2016.
In case of emergency, this service will allow to regasify the LNG previously stored in the tanks of the Terminal and deliver it into the grid. Within the limits of the quantities of LNG delivered, the service will be available to Snam Rete Gas until March 31, 2017.
“This year too, many customers have shown interest in the peak shaving service despite some of them have been discouraged in the final phase due to market developments such as the spread that has again widened in favor of Asian markets and the high volatility of LNG price as a result of elections in the United States.” says Corrado Papa, Commercial Manager of Adriatic LNG.
Adriatic LNG is pleased to contribute again to the security of gas supply after the success of the years 2014/2015 and 2015/2016.
